Pursue your nursing career

Read on, and discover what makes achieving a BSN a worthwhile and achievable dream.

How Does Our ABSN Program Work?

Making the transition into a nursing career in as few as 16 months is possible with our Pacific Lutheran’s ABSN program. This full-time program builds on non-nursing college credits, with applicants required to have a minimum of 60 non-nursing college credits and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above in addition to satisfying prerequisite requirements. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, meaning shorter wait times for admission decisions, and admission counselors work with you one on one to form an academic plan for your time in the program.

An ABSN from Pacific Lutheran delivers the coursework and real-life application necessary to become a nurse. The study necessary to gain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree is based on three elements:

  • Online nursing coursework that focuses on the fundamental elements of professional practice.
  • Nursing skills and simulation labs at our accelerated BSN site to develop your skills under instructor supervision.
  • Clinical rotations at respected regional health care facilities to gain real-world patient care experience.

Online Coursework

While Pacific Lutheran’s ABSN program follows a hybrid learning model blending digital and onsite learning, our online accelerated nursing coursework has been created to allow you to learn the necessary fundamentals for nursing on a fast but flexible pace. While you would still be accountable for meeting deadlines on assignments, you would not have to worry about attending multiple time-sensitive online lectures. This allows you to study and work at whatever time works best for you, freeing up your schedule to complete much of the work for your degree on your own time.

Onsite Skills and Simulation Labs

Our facility, located north of Seattle, Washington in Lynnwood, is set up to provide you with the strongest possible foundation in learning and practicing nursing skills and techniques. With instructor guidance, you will be able to learn the ins and outs of multiple patient care scenarios in a risk-free environment. Here, you will have room to make mistakes and grow from them, and small class sizes mean post-lab debriefs with individualized attention from instructors. With experienced faculty and fellow members of your cohort, you will be able to get the answer to every question you may have and gain experience throughout the process.

Clinical Rotations

With as little as 16 months separating you from beginning Pacific Lutheran’s ABSN program to entering the field as a practicing nurse, getting real patient care experience as soon as possible is vital. Starting in your first semester, you will be able to gain practical, real-world experience in caring for patients at highly respected health care facilities located in and around Seattle. You will take an active role in patient care, especially in your fourth semester when you will be working one-on-one with a preceptor. By the time you graduate, you will have gained hundreds of hours of real-world patient care experience and be ready to administer care as a professional.
