Message From the Dean

Welcome to the School of Nursing at Pacific Lutheran University. It is great to see more people like you wanting to transition into nursing. After all, it is a rewarding profession full of opportunity.

Our School of Nursing has a longstanding reputation of excellence across the Pacific Northwest. We believe nursing is a theory and science-based discipline focusing on patient-centered care across the health care continuum. It is also a relationship-based practice directed by humanitarian values of human dignity, interdependence and social justice.

Because we combine a liberal arts education with nursing study, scholarship and civic engagement, our graduates know how to provide competent, compassionate and meaningful care to individuals and communities. As a result, our graduates are some of the most sought-after nursing professionals around. The demand for our nurses is growing faster than ever. So it is with great pleasure that I introduce our Accelerated BSN program in the Seattle metro area.

Our ABSN program makes it possible for students with a non-nursing college education to earn a quality BSN in as few as 16 months. Spanning four semesters, the full-time program features a rigorous blend of online and on-site instruction that prepares students to enter the profession as practice-ready nurses.

By choosing Pacific Lutheran University for your accelerated nursing education, you can expect to be part of a supportive learning environment that fosters merit in the areas of inquiry, service, leadership and care. We look forward to helping you achieve your nursing career goals.

Sincerely,

Barbara Habermann, PhD RN FAAN
Dean and Professor
